Eric (Errs) Rooney Perpetual Cup Final Results

Eric (Errs) Rooney Perpetual Cup

Final of Eric Rooney perpetual cup was played in the Coast. between Brook X and Coast Tavern, the coast had a deserved 5-3 first leg lead from the previous weeks match in the Brook Pub Portrane.

The final was expected to be very tense and close affair the Coast had already competed in an earlier cup final finishing runners up to league champions Harvey’s and were hoping to go one better.

Brook X required a good start and a very long and edgy first frame was won by Dave McCann for Brook X and the second frame was again won by brook X by John Cole who beat Ollie Lloyd  the Final was now tied 5-5.

the coast are an experienced team A.Kearney/C.Hanlon/ A.Carmody  to name a few were all ready to play their part in the remaining frames and all had proven themselves extremely useful at closing out matches.

So it was with some surprise that the next 4 frames all went the way of Brook X who became the inaugural champions of the Eric(Errs) Rooney Cup 9 frame to 5. Well done. the coast were gracious in defeat and publican provided a very pleasant evening for all. the league wishes to thank all those involved in this years cup competition and its publicans for making it a very successful year.

Next week Nauzzie Final narks the end of this years competition and a full presentation of all the silverware..

the Eric Rooney Cup will be presented by a member of the Rooney family it will be some pride that Brook X will be accepting this cup for the first time. Eric Rooney RIP you shall be remembered all your friends in the Round-tower Pool League
